A Word from Our Founder

SOMA began with a simple belief: wellbeing deserves a place in our everyday lives.

Our name comes from the Greek word soma, meaning “body.” For us, it is an invitation to listen to our bodies and recognise how closely our physical health, emotions, relationships and daily choices are connected.

I wanted to create a space where looking after ourselves feels joyful, welcoming and achievable. Somewhere to move, learn, share experiences and discover what helps us feel well, whatever our starting point.

This vision is deeply personal. My own journey has included autoimmune illness, ectopic pregnancies, depression and an eating disorder. These experiences have shaped how I understand wellbeing and taught me to approach myself with greater patience. Alongside the care I needed, movement, connection and thoughtful everyday choices became meaningful parts of that journey.

As a mother, I also think about the example we set for our children: how we help them build a healthy relationship with their bodies, express their feelings and find joy in being active.

That spirit lives at the heart of SOMA. Through movement, meaningful conversations and shared experiences, we bring people together to explore wellbeing with curiosity and kindness.

My hope is that you leave SOMA with something that stays with you: a new perspective, a connection, a small habit, or simply the feeling that you have made time for yourself.

You are warmly welcome here.
